“Stop whining and start cracking”: Tourism must STEP UP and contribute to the FIGHT against the COVID-19

CruiseLAB on the GO – 01 – Tourism must STEP UP against the COVID19 (Prof.Alexis Papathanassis)

The COVID19 is a capacity crisis. It is all about ensuring that the available capacities of hospital beds and health personnel can meet the ‘demand’ created by the outbreaks. Managing global capacities of beds and transporting people is what the tourism and cruise sector do best. Here instead of ‘whining’, about empty capacities and money losses, the tourism sector can really step up and make a difference. Hotels can provide beds and catering for the recovering patients, airlines can transport healthcare personnel where needed across borders… Tourism has the tools and the know-how! DMOs should get in touch with health authorities and ‘get cracking’. A call for constructive inititiatives by Prof.Dr.Dr. Alexis Papathanassis.
